Aiken acupuncturist Cathy Benedetto provides group ear acupuncture at Harmony Gate Wellness Center and other sites. These sessions consist of the Five Needle protocol (5NP) that is widely used throughout the country to help patients cope with physical and mental symptoms associated with drug, alcohol and cigarette detoxification and with post-traumatic stress.
Clients are seated together, resting quietly with needles in their ears for approximately 45 minutes. The points that are used are known to influence the health of several major body organs and often promote experiences of calm, relaxation, invigoration, and hope. Regular treatments can support clients in dealing with ongoing life stresses and changes that affect physical, mental and emotional well being.
Interested participants will need to complete brief information and survey forms, and read and sign a consent form. For more information and to register for one or more sessions, contact the clinic at 803/649-4047.
Cathy Benedetto is a nationally certified, state licensed acupuncturist who has been in practice for nearly 15 years. She is a graduate of Maryland’s Traditional Acupuncture Institute (TAI) where she received her Masters degree, trained in 5NP, and was one of the country’s first certified animal acupuncturists. Cathy participated in auricular detox treatments in Baltimore, Maryland at the Women's Detention Center and at New Hope Methadone Treatment Center. She received further 5NP training from AWB in 2007 to strengthen her capabilities in treating groups of clients dealing with post traumatic issues.
